Wrestling the Gator(ade)
December 21, 2006

video link below, in entry

Ever get that feeling where you were so excited to go somewhere, it gave you butterflies in your stomach. You anticipate getting there and doing whatever you're going to do and you just can't wait. That's the feeling I get when I come home from work and I can't wait to sit down at the kitchen table, chow down on some dinner and chug some Gatorade.

Recently Mike and I had that feeling. 4 nights in a row actually... Oh yes, 4 crrrrazy nights.

It all began at BJ's Wholesale store where Mike spotted a bulk case of Gatorade(32oz) bottles in different flavors. As expected, he was thinking of me and how much I love me some Gatorade, so he popped it into the cart and off we went. (How thoughtful)

That night, he handed me a Red (Fruitpunch flavored) Gatorade bottle to drink. As I went to open it, I got frustrated. I stood there for a good 2 minutes (which is actually a pretty long time) and tried to open the bottle. It wouldn't budge.

Thinking to myself, "Damn, I really need to get in shape", I handed Mike the bottle to open. Thinking to myself, "Damn, he really needs to get in shape too", as he struggle to open the bottle...I finally realized it's not us, it's the bottle. The friggen thing wouldn't open. We tried and tried, and I even received a war wound from wrestling with the gator and sliced open an area right below my middle finger on the palm of my hand from trying to open the damned thing.

Anyway, I was a little let down. I had gotten my hopes up anticipating the taste of Gatorade. We brought the bottle upstairs with us and decided to just wait a little while and try again.

We waited, we tried, we failed.

It took us 2 days to finally open that bottle of Gatorade.

As the days went by, each night Mike bringing up a bottle of Gatorade for me to drink, we started to realize a pattern. The yellow ones are pretty hard to open and the red ones, forget about it, they take days.

Our most recent endeavor involved a red bottle. It started 4 days ago. We figured we probably wouldn't be able to open it, but were ready to take the challenge anyway.

Day 1 - twist and turn, twist and turn --- nothing budged but the skin on our now callused hands.

Day 2 - One attempt - very brief -- returned bottle to kitchen counter

Day 3 - He tried - I didn't.... I tried not to think about the Gatorade (it's been 3 days since I've had a sip!!!)

Day 4 - Anxiety building, looking forward to conquering the gator...

Day 4 (30 minutes later) - SUCCESS after about 30 minutes of battle. We tried using a knife, razor blade, needle-nose pliers, regular pliers and our own brute strength.

We were lucky enough to capture the final moments on video...

Take a look for yourself

I think I'm going to write a letter to the folks over at Gatorade. I truly LOVE and enjoy the drink, I just can't stand not being able to pop one open and quench my thirst when I need to. 4 days just won't do.

Potty Wisdom
December 19, 2006
Today I noticed that when I go into the public restrooms at work or in any public facility, I walk up to the stall, and slowly push the door open. I stand back a little bit and try to peer in to see if there is any pee on the seat, nastiness left in the bowl, or any hairs on the rim. If there are any of the things, I say "Ewww", literally, then step back and slowly move onto the next making the same motions.

I think that's kind of funny and I've noticed other women doing the same thing, but I've also noticed those who just don't care and will walk right into one of the stalls I classified as "Ewww" and sit right down. YIKES!

My advice for women is :

- forget about those stupid toilet protectors, if you know anything, you know they don't help, always use the Hover method when in a public restroom.

- when washing your hands, get your paper towels first, tuck them under your arm and wash your hands. Before you turn off the water, take the papertowel out from under your arm and turn off the faucet, then take that same paper towel and use it to pull the lever that gets more papertowels... Throw out your paper towel, then grab the new bunch, dry your hands and take paper towel with you to the door. To open door, use papertowel!!! Then throw it out.

There are waaaay too many women who just don't wash their hands, then wind up touching that nasty pee covered door handle. ECK!!!!

About that THING called Happiness.
December 18, 2006

"All men seek happiness. This is without exception. Whatever different means they employ, they all tend to this end. The cause of some going to war, and of others avoiding it, is the same desire in both, attended with different views the will never takes the least step but to this object. This is the motive of every action of every man, even of those who hang themselves."

-Philosopher & Mathematician, Blaise Pascal

It's about happiness. Not about the people who went to war for W.Bush, please keep that in mind.

Our big boy...
December 17, 2006
Our Peeps is a big boy. He is a Bichon Frise, purebred. The breed max weight range is up to 12-15lbs, I believe.

He is 20lbs. And the vet reassures us that he is not fat, just big boned. LOL
There is discussion board we belong to called 'Fluffy Marshmallows' which was created for owners of Bichons that weigh 20lbs or more. (and boy, I've seen some big ones, 40+lbs!!)

Nice..

Anyway, Peeps has this thing about comfort. His most comfortable position to lay in is one where he is able to lay 'over' or ontop of something. For example. When on the couch, he likes to keep his feet on the seat cushion meanwhile his front paws and belly leaning over the armrest.

Below are some pics of Peeps laying on Mike while he was sleeping. Mike had a pillow on top of him under the covers which Peeps decided looked quite comfortable.

It was cute and I thought I would share.

Stamps
I need stamps, and lots of them. I should've finished sending out my Christmas cards last week, but I didn't. I should've at least bought stamps to send them out, but I didn't, now I'm going to have to rush around on Monday to send them out before the mailmen make their pickups at the mailboxes so that my list of people get their cards BEFORE Christmas.

I guess that's why it's always safe to get cards that just say, have a nice holiday season and a happy new year...

ugh

Some people...
December 14, 2006
...believe I made the wrong decision in sponsoring a child. One person in particular actually came right out and said I've been "had". Then again, this one person in particular is the only person I know that rarely says anything positive about what other people do.

It makes me think, maybe I've been "had" but what if I haven't been. And I put myself in those people shoes who need sponsoring and wish that people would just believe.

Most people I know have something good to say about people who have a kind heart. Because even if I have been 'had', I would be upset, but the contribution I made is not something I cannot afford.

I am proud for what I've done, and felt I should just put that out here right now. If people feel I made the wrong decision, they can voice that, but don't need to start getting upset, and angry at me for doing it. I wanted to tell people about it with hopes that it may interest them. And if they do not agree with it, they would be kind enough to keep it to themselves or be polite about saying No.

Some people like to push people down when they are up, and if you look into it a bit, you realize why.

It is also people like this, that post bad comments and replies as well, so look out for some.

**please note that this entry is not about my questioning a charitable donation. It is just about something I experienced today and had to get out of my system.

Wish I had my camera.
Tonight I met Mike in New York City to go out to dinner and celebrate the fact that he doesn't have to take anymore exams and he's going to graduate college soon. Also, it was date-night for us. Since Mike works in NYC right now, we thought that would be a great place to meet up, the only problems were...

- we wanted to eat at a new restaurant that had to have a nice atmosphere, with good food that was reasonably priced.

It was a little tough to do, b/c you never know what you're really getting just from reading a review online.

We narrowed it down to cuisine. We decided asian somewhere along the way (one of his favs). We found this restaurant online and were impressed by their website. It also stated a Prix Fixe menu that was $25/person for a 3 course meal + a drink. You can't go wrong with that....or at least we hoped. It's so rare to find a decent trendy place and pay less than $50/person when each person is getting an appetizer, entree, dessert, and alcoholic drink of choice!

Mike and I both agreed, the moment we stepped into Fusia we were quite impressed. Today they had live music which made the evening that more special.

As soon as we walked in we were greeted by the most adorable man with a giant smile on his face. He told us to come in, took our jackets and hung them up then seated us. The entire staff at Fusia was extremely polite, joyful, attentive, and just plain old happy. This made the evening so relaxing for me. I hate dealing with uptight waiters/tresses.

The interior of the restaurant was very pretty. Tonight the place wasn't packed, but it sure wasn't empty either.

Visit the site, and DEFINITELY visit the restaurant. You won't regret it. We are absolutely going back!!!

Sponsor a Child, TODAY.
Today I signed up to sponsor a child. I am sponsoring a little girl named Camila from Chile. She's 3 years old and so adorable.

I've been wanting to do this for some time now. I've watched so many 'save the children' commercials and I felt that if I sent money in, I couldn't trust that it would all really go to the children.

What I learned through Children International is that my monthly donation (no obligation) goes towards all the sponsored children (dire poor) and helps out with education, medical, housing, etc... Each child gets 1 sponsor. That sponsor is with that child as long as they are making contributions. ($22/month or 71cents per day). You are able to select the region, sex, age range of the child you'd like to sponsor.

Once you sign up and make your first contribution, you can log into their website and view more information about the child. What they like to do, what their talents are, what their full name is, what their parents names are, their age and what they do. How much the family makes per month and information about their housing conditions and the area/region they live in.

I think this contribution is definitely worth it. There are so many helpless children suffering for no reason, and they have no control over it.

My next post will show info on the girl I am sponsoring.

Lonely Peepers
Here's a picture of my dog, Peeps. (Bichon Frise)

He got tired of following me up and down the steps all night during a game-party and decided to just sit in the middle of the steps until I made up my mind which way I was going to go.

PS: that 'thing' sticking out of his stomach is his back right paw!

I bought Peter.
I don't know how many people remember Peter. But, I bought him last week.

It's such a great feeling to finally own him after almost 3 years. Now it's just a matter of paying him off for a few more years. It's okay.

We had our rough times, but we've gotten through them and he's been good to me since...as, I've also been good to him.

He needs an oil change bad though.

Turkey Day...
I know it's been a while since Thanksgiving, but I haven't been able to upload my pictures until now. To view larger, just click on the picture.

This here is the ole turkey that was munched on for days and days...(literally). Personally, I think the best part about Thanksgiving dinner is the Turkey skin and the stuffing. It's a day to be unhealthy and be thankful you're allowed to.

This next picture is of the table. From left to right (around the table): Grandma, Mitchell, Lindsay, Renee, Mike, Me, Kevin & Dawn. The 2 empty seats at the end are for my mom (taking the pic) and her BF Dave.

Last but CERTAINLY not least is the most PRICELESS photo of the evening. Admist all the eating and semi-food comas we were all having, there was a few minutes of hysterical laughter as we entertained ourselves by teaching Grandma how to do sign language. This here is her rendition of Lobster Claws. (don't ask, but we were all doing it at the table - yeah, we can be bizarre.)

Holy Crap -- Bare Minerals...
December 3, 2006
Have you ever seen that infomercial about this -- Swirl, Tap & Buff -- method of putting makeup on in powder form?

BareMinerals, my friend, is what it's all about. I bought it, and it works.

On the infomercial it shows how people with any skin type and any skin problem can get a flawless look by just applying a light powder to their skin.

It's free of preservatives, talc, oil, frangrance and chemicals. So pure you can sleep in it.

I have to admit, I love watching infomercials, and always want to buy the items they are showing, but wind up never getting them, b/c I think it's all a scam.

I once purchased the bareMinerals makeup and then cancelled the order before it arrived, b/c I thought that it was a scam. I finally gave in and thought I would five it a try. I ordered it and 3 days later it arrived on my doorstep.

I washed my face completely then put the makeup on. It was amazing. I've never had such a polished look from so little makeup!

It all costs abt $60 not including shipping. The only thing is it doesn't come with lipstick, so use your current.

I have to admit the price is sooo good. My regular Revlon & Neutrogena foundation is soo expensive. $13 a bottle and even though it's oil free, it's a liquid foundation and feels so heavy.

Anyway, I feel like I'm advertising here, and in a way, I guess I am.

It works, I will put before and after pics up here shortly.

Welcome --- again.
December 2, 2006
It's that time of year, when I decide it's time for a fresh start.
The past 2 years have been quite a doozy, so I figured, it's time for a change.

To start things off, I've determined I need a little more 'streamlining' and positive 'flow' in my life.

Heard of Feng Shui? Well... That's what I'm going to do.

To start it all off, I'm organizing my closet and all my clothes. Yes it has already taken me a whole day to get it started, and no, after 24 hours I'm still not finished, but... I'm on the right path.

Trust me, it will be a work of art in the end. Back to the way things used to be...

I'll take a picture soon, to show you my progress.

Muuuhahahaha, Closet Progress....!!!

What has the world come too.

Anyway, as you may have noticed the Typette blog has been modified. A new layout, and one that I hope to keep around.

Comments are back... and so is this whole new Labeling fashion trend from Blogger.

Peace out, Cub Scouts.
